Laura Erickson's For the Birds

It was cold and fiercely blustery when I started recording about 6 pm. The ground had lots of bare patches but still a lot of snow cover. The yard had about 150 juncoes, 20 Fox Sparrows, and maybe 10 Rusty Blackbirds when I made the recording. This morning about 20 Rusty Blackbirds were present. I put out the recorder when I realized the Rusties were calling. It was horribly windy (I cut out the lowest frequencies to eliminate most of it), but this is the only chance I’ve ever had to record Rusty Blackbirds. I took the photo today, so this individual may have been among the Rusty Blackbirds calling.
