Laura Erickson's For the Birds

I set up my Zoom recorder with the built-in stereo microphone in my office window when Evening Grosbeaks suddenly turned up. You can hear a cool rising single-note wink throughout. The only birds I saw making the sound were female grosbeaks, but that doesn’t mean the males weren’t making it, too. I’ll have to study it more.
