Sitta carolinensis
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Sittidae (Nuthatches)
Our largest nuthatch, more associated with deciduous forests than other nuthatches, the White-breasted Nuthatch is a frequent feeder visitor, coming for sunflower seeds and suet. One or two may associate with a chickadee flock in winter, but are more standoffish, usually on the periphery of the action.
