Hylopezus dives
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Grallariidae (Antpittas)
This secretive bird of thickets in moist lowland forests is much more easily heard than seen. Antpittas look like oversized baby birds, with long legs and big feet, a tiny stump of a tail, and large eyes. You can read more about them at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Neotropical Birds.
