Accipiter striatus
Order: Accipitriformes
Family: Accipitridae (Hawks, Eagles, and Kites)
Our smallest accipiter feeds almost exclusively on birds. It’s designed to snatch birds taken by surprise. On most September and October days at Hawk Ridge in Duluth, this is usually the most abundant raptor counted.
Having problems with a raptor eating birds in your yard? Check out some ways to solve the problem.
