Tyrannus forficatus
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Tyrannidae (Tyrant Flycatchers)
Oklahoma may very well have the most beautiful state bird in the nation. This exquisite flycatcher is also one of the easiest state birds to see, from spring through fall often perched along highways in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and neighboring states. To give the rest of us a treat, it wanders regularly out of this range, too.
