Setophaga americana
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Parulidae (New World Warblers)
The tiniest warbler in North America nests in Usnea lichen, or “old man’s beard,” in northeastern forests, and in Spanish moss (a bromeliad) in southeastern forests. Its zippy tune is almost delightful to hear as the bird is to see.
