Tympanuchus pallidicinctus
Order: Galliformes
Family: Phasianidae (Pheasants, Grouse, and Allies)
This splendid species, deserving of full protection under the Endangered Species Act, was the main subject of the Lek Treks & More Lesser Prairie-Chicken Festival in Woodward, Oklahoma. ALL the good photos I have of the species on my flickr page came from a morning in a great photographers blind arranged on that trip. Tragically, that festival ended permanently in 2021 due to the horrifying decline of Lesser Prairie-Chickens.
