Pagophila eburnea
Order: Charadriiformes
Family: Laridae (Gulls, Terns, and Skimmers)
This beautiful white gull of the arctic is associated with polar bears, and like them is declining. Individuals sometimes wander into the United States—it’s not certain what sends them south, or how high mortality is in these individuals.
