Oreophasis derbianus
Order: Galliformes
Family: Cracidae (Guans, Chachalacas, and Curassows)
This comically-improbable-looking bird is one of the rarest, most endangered birds on the planet. It’s found only in humid mountain forests of southeast Mexico-(Chiapas) and Guatemala, and entirely in remote, undeveloped places with extremely little access for hunters.
You can read more about it on Cornell’s Neotropical Birds
