This pretty honeycreeper endemic to Hawaii is in critical danger from avian malaria and a dangerous pathogen killing the ohia trees that provide necessary food. When I was in Hawaii in 2000 and 2024, it was extremely easy to see and hear in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
