Anhinga anhinga
Order: Suliformes
Family: Anhingidae (Anhingas)
Anhingas are occasionally mistaken for cormorants, which are in a different family, but Anhingas in flight have a far longer tail and in the water live up to their nickname, “snake bird,” their head as narrow as their snaky neck. Their bill is pointed like a dagger, without even the slightest hook at the tip.
