Spizelloides arborea
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Emberizidae (Buntings and New World Sparrows)
This exquisite little sparrow, not closely related to the Chipping Sparrow though many birders up here confuse the two, nests far north of Minnesota but migrates through and frequently visits feeders in April and October. American Tree Sparrows sometimes sing during migration, but not nearly as persistently as Fox and White-throated Sparrows or juncos. Their song is variable but has a very sweet tonal quality.
